What is Bid My Load and how does it work? +
Bid My Load is IZY's name-your-price quoting option. Instead of waiting for a rate from us, you submit the all-in rate you want to pay for your shipment. We review it immediately against available carrier capacity and respond with one of three outcomes: Accept (your bid works and we book it), Counter (we propose the closest available market rate with a full explanation), or Decline (no capacity available at any workable rate). You receive an email response usually within 1 hour. There is no commitment until you approve. Submit your bid at izylogistics.com/quote.
What is a freight broker? +
A freight broker is a licensed intermediary that connects shippers (businesses that need to move goods) with carriers (truck drivers and trucking companies). The broker negotiates rates, arranges pickup and delivery, handles paperwork, and ensures the shipment moves safely and on time. IZY Logistics is licensed by the FMCSA under MC #1615290 and USDOT #4191217.
How does freight brokerage work? +
When you contact us for a quote, we take your shipment details — origin, destination, freight type, weight, and dimensions. We then search our network of 500+ vetted carriers for the best available truck at a competitive rate. Once you approve the quote, we issue a load confirmation, coordinate pickup, and track your freight through to delivery. You pay one flat rate — no hidden fees.
Do I need to sign an agreement before moving freight with IZY? +

Yes — a broker-shipper agreement is required before we can book your first load. This is a standard FMCSA-required document that protects both sides: it defines rates, payment terms, cargo liability, and insurance responsibilities for every shipment. The process is simple and fast — fill out your business details on our Shippers page and we'll email you the agreement link within minutes. Once signed, we can start quoting and moving freight immediately.

What is the difference between FTL and LTL? +
FTL (Full Truckload) means your freight fills an entire trailer — typically 20,000+ lbs or a full 48–53 ft trailer. The truck goes directly from pickup to delivery with no other stops. LTL (Less Than Truckload) means your shipment shares space with other shippers' freight on the same trailer. FTL is faster and has less handling; LTL is cost-effective for smaller loads. Our quote tool will recommend the best option for your shipment.
How fast can you get a truck? +
In most lanes we can have a truck confirmed within 1–4 hours of your approved quote. For standard loads on major lanes — Chicago to Atlanta, Dallas to Miami — same-day truck sourcing is common. Expedited and time-critical loads are our specialty. Call us directly at +1(877)IZY-LOGS and we'll move immediately.
How much does freight shipping cost? +
Freight rates depend on distance, freight type, weight, current market demand, and fuel prices. As of May 2026, national dry van FTL spot rates average $2.68/mile, reefer $3.12/mile, and flatbed $3.46/mile. Use our instant rate calculator on the Quote page to get a real estimate in under 30 seconds — no contact info required.
What areas do you service? +
IZY Logistics provides freight brokerage services across the entire United States. We have deep carrier coverage in major freight corridors — Midwest, Southeast, Northeast, Southwest, and West Coast. We also serve dedicated state markets including Illinois, Texas, Florida, California, New York, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Missouri.
Are you a licensed freight broker? +
Yes. IZY Logistics LLC is fully licensed and bonded: USDOT #4191217 and MC #1615290, issued by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). You can verify our license at safer.fmcsa.dot.gov at any time. We carry a $75,000 surety bond as required by federal law.
How do you vet your carriers? +
Every carrier in our network is screened through Descartes MyCarrierPortal before being approved. We verify active operating authority, valid cargo insurance (minimum $100,000), satisfactory FMCSA safety rating, and check for fraud indicators including double-brokering history. A carrier that doesn't pass our screening never touches your freight.
What types of freight do you handle? +
We specialize in dry van FTL and LTL, refrigerated/reefer freight (produce, dairy, pharmaceutical, frozen), flatbed and open deck (steel, lumber, machinery, construction materials), and power only / drop-and-hook moves. We also handle step deck, conestoga, and RGN loads for oversized freight. Not sure what you need? Tell us what you're shipping and we'll advise on the right equipment.
What if my freight is damaged or lost? +
All carriers in our network carry minimum $100,000 cargo insurance. In the event of a claim, IZY Logistics assists you through the entire claims process with the carrier's insurance provider. We document every load with a signed Bill of Lading and digital proof of delivery. For high-value freight, we can arrange additional cargo coverage before the load moves.
Do you offer real-time tracking? +
Yes. Every load booked through IZY Logistics includes real-time tracking through our shipper portal. You receive pickup confirmation, in-transit updates, ETA notifications, and delivery confirmation with a digital POD. Our dispatchers are reachable 24/7 by phone or email for live status updates — you're never left wondering where your freight is.
What payment terms do you offer? +
We offer Net 15, Net 30, Net 45, and Net 60 payment terms for approved credit customers. New shippers can apply for credit through our Credit Application page. Payments are accepted by ACH, check, or wire transfer. Extended terms (Net 45/60) may carry a small surcharge, which will be reflected transparently in your quote.
What is the difference between a spot rate and a contract rate?+

A spot rate is a one-time market price for a single shipment, based on current truck supply and demand. It changes daily. A contract rate is a negotiated price agreed upon for recurring freight on specific lanes over a set period — typically 6–12 months. Spot is faster and more flexible; contract gives you price stability and guaranteed capacity. See our full guide.

How is my freight rate calculated?+

Freight rates are determined by: (1) Lane — origin and destination ZIP codes; (2) Equipment type — dry van, reefer, flatbed, etc.; (3) Weight and dimensions — heavier or longer loads cost more; (4) Market conditions — current truck supply and demand on your lane; (5) Accessorials — fuel surcharge, liftgate, layover, etc. IZY provides all-in quotes with no hidden fees.

What is Cost-Plus pricing and how does the 15% margin work?+

Cost-Plus pricing means you pay the actual verified carrier cost plus a flat 15% brokerage margin. We can provide the carrier invoice on request so you see exactly what the carrier was paid. This is full open-book pricing — ideal for high-volume shippers who want complete transparency. See our Quote Terms for details.

How long is a freight quote valid?+

Spot market quotes from IZY Logistics are valid for 24 hours from the time of issuance — this is industry standard. Freight rates fluctuate with market conditions, so we cannot guarantee a price beyond this window. Contract rates are locked for the agreed term (typically 6–12 months). See our Quote & Payment Terms for full policy.

What happens if my freight is damaged in transit?+

File a freight claim immediately upon delivery — note any damage on the BOL before the driver leaves. You have 9 months from delivery to file a formal claim under the Carmack Amendment. IZY Logistics will assist with carrier communication and documentation. All our carriers carry minimum $100K cargo insurance. See our freight claims guide for step-by-step instructions.

What is a Bill of Lading (BOL) and why does it matter?+

A Bill of Lading is the legal contract between the shipper and carrier. It documents what was picked up (commodity, weight, pieces), the pickup and delivery locations, and the agreed terms. It is the primary document for freight claims — never let a driver leave without signing a clean BOL if freight arrives damaged. Read our complete BOL guide.

What is a fuel surcharge (FSC) and how is it calculated?+

A fuel surcharge is an additional charge added to your base freight rate to account for diesel price fluctuations. It is calculated as a percentage of the linehaul rate, indexed to the DOE (Department of Energy) weekly retail diesel price. IZY Logistics includes FSC in all-in spot quotes so there are no surprises. See our full fuel surcharge guide.

What is a freight accessorial charge?+

Accessorial charges are additional fees beyond the base freight rate for non-standard services. Common accessorials include: liftgate pickup/delivery ($75–150), inside delivery, residential pickup/delivery, detention (when loading/unloading exceeds 2 hours), layover, team driver, and hazmat fees. IZY itemizes all accessorials upfront — never surprise charges after delivery.

What is detention and when does it apply?+

Detention is a charge applied when a truck is held at pickup or delivery beyond the free time — typically 2 hours. Rates are usually $50–100 per hour. Detention protects carriers and their drivers from unpaid waiting time. IZY Logistics always notifies you before detention charges accumulate and works to resolve delays at the facility level first.

Does IZY Logistics handle hazmat / dangerous goods shipments?+

Yes. IZY Logistics arranges hazmat freight for all 9 DOT classes. For standard classes (2–6, 8–9) we work directly with hazmat-endorsed carriers — this includes flammable liquids (Class 3), gases (Class 2), corrosives (Class 8), oxidizers (Class 5), toxic substances (Class 6.1), and miscellaneous hazardous (Class 9).

Class 1 (Explosives) and Class 7 (Radioactive Materials) are handled through our professional specialized partners — ATF-licensed carriers for explosives and NRC-licensed carriers for radioactive materials. These shipments require direct consultation due to federal licensing, routing restrictions, and security protocols and cannot be quoted online.

For all hazmat classes, use our detailed quote form — select your freight type and choose your DOT class in the Hazmat / Dangerous Goods field. For Class 1 or Class 7, call us directly at +1(877)IZY-LOGS. Learn more about hazmat freight →

What is the difference between a dry van and a reefer?+

A dry van is a standard enclosed trailer with no temperature control — used for general freight, packaged goods, consumer products, and most manufactured goods. A reefer (refrigerated trailer) has an active refrigeration unit that maintains a set temperature range — required for produce, food products, pharmaceuticals, and other temperature-sensitive cargo.

What is power only freight?+

Power only means the carrier provides only the tractor (truck cab) — you provide your own trailer. This is common for drop-and-hook operations, dedicated trailer fleets, and situations where shippers own specialized trailers. IZY Logistics arranges power only coverage across all 48 contiguous states. Learn more about power only.

What is the maximum weight for a standard truckload?+

Federal highway limits cap a standard truckload at 80,000 lbs gross vehicle weight. The usable payload is typically 42,000–45,000 lbs depending on the tractor and trailer weight. Loads exceeding these limits require oversize/overweight permits, which IZY Logistics can coordinate through our flatbed team. Learn more about flatbed and oversize freight.

How do you vet carriers?+

Every carrier in our network is verified through Descartes MyCarrierPortal before their first load. We check: FMCSA operating authority status, safety rating (Satisfactory or unrated only), insurance certificate ($1M auto liability, $100K cargo minimum), and fraud/double-broker risk. Carriers with Conditional or Unsatisfactory safety ratings are not used.

What is double brokering and how do you prevent it?+

Double brokering occurs when a carrier accepts a load and then illegally re-brokers it to another carrier without the shipper's knowledge. It creates liability gaps and is prohibited by FMCSA regulations. IZY Logistics prevents this through Descartes MyCarrierPortal fraud detection, carrier identity verification, and explicit anti-double-brokering language in all carrier rate confirmations.

I'm a carrier — how do I get set up with IZY Logistics?+

Visit our carrier onboarding page to submit your application. You'll need your MC number, DOT number, insurance certificate ($1M auto liability, $100K cargo), and W-9. We review applications within 24 hours. Qualified carriers are added to our network and begin receiving load offers immediately.

Is IZY Logistics licensed and bonded?+

Yes. IZY Logistics LLC holds: FMCSA Broker Authority MC #1615290 (active), USDOT #4191217, and a $75,000 surety bond as required by federal law. You can verify our authority at safer.fmcsa.dot.gov by searching MC #1615290.

What is FSMA and does it affect my reefer shipment?+

The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) sets federal standards for the sanitary transportation of human and animal food. It requires carriers transporting food to maintain proper temperature controls, document equipment cleanliness, and follow shipper-established temperature requirements. IZY Logistics ensures all reefer carriers moving food products are FSMA compliant.

What is the Carmack Amendment?+

The Carmack Amendment is the federal law that governs carrier liability for freight loss or damage in interstate shipments. Under Carmack, carriers are liable for the full actual value of goods lost or damaged, unless they've established a released value limitation. Shippers have 9 months from delivery to file a claim and 2 years from denial to sue. IZY Logistics can assist with Carmack claim filings.

How does your real-time tracking work?+

We also provide proactive updates at pickup confirmation, in-transit check calls, and delivery confirmation. For urgent updates, call +1(877)IZY-LOGS 24/7.
